NEW ORLEANS - Three players on the Tulane Volleyball team were honored by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association and were selected to the 2011 All-State volleyball squad. Sophomore Cori Martone, freshman Anna Wruck and senior Nikki Osuna were all recognized for their contributions during the 2011 season.

Martone was the headliner for the Green Wave all season and earned First Team All-Louisiana accolades from the LSWA this season. Martone was a Second Team All-Conference USA selection this season, after earning C-USA Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-State honors last season. The Baton Rouge, La. native set career-highs in kills, attacking percentage, assists, service aces, solo blocks and points in 2011, while leading the team in kills and points.

Spending time as at both the middle blocker and outside hitter positions, Martone ranked among the Conference USA leaders in kills per-set (3.45, 5th) and points per-set (4.03, 6th). She posted three double-double matches, had three double-digit dig outings and boasted 17 double-digit kill matches.

A Second Team All-Louisiana selection, Wruck had one of the best rookie seasons on record at Tulane and earned Conference USA All-Freshmen Team honors. The Monmouth, Ore. native was the only player to start every match for the Olive and Blue and the only one to appear in all 118 sets. She led the team in attacking percentage and all three blocking categories, sitting 20th and seventh in Conference USA, respectively. The rookie collected 124 total blocks (24 solo), 194 kills and attacked at a .247 clip, totaling 269 points on the season.

Wruck was the first player since 2006 to own a blocks per-set average of better than one block per-set (Boatwright, 1.17 bps) and her blocking total of 124 has been matched only by Jen Linder (125, 2008) over the past six seasons. Wruck set her season-best with 18 kills against UAB on September 30 and has topped the ten-kill mark four times in 2011. Her nine blocks at Marshall on October 30 are a season best, while she surpassed five blocks in a match 11 times.

Osuna had one of the best defensive seasons in Tulane history during the 2011 slate, finishing with the second highest single season dig total in school history. The 5-foot-3-inch libero compiled 510 digs in 116 matches and added 72 assists and 21 service aces during her senior campaign. Her digs total is the second most in a single season - behind Jenn Miller's 609 in 2007 - and she finished her career with the second highest digs per-set average (3.63) by any Green Wave player in school history.

A native of Bellflower, Calif., Osuna ranked seventh in Conference USA with a 4.40 digs per-set average in 2011 and ranked third in the state in total digs. She posted 747 digs, 79 assists, 32 service aces and four kills in two seasons on the Uptown campus.

LSU led all schools with five players selected to the all-state squad, while Tulane's three representatives were the second most in the state. Eight other schools had players named to the list; Louisiana Tech (2 players), McNeese State (2), Northwestern State (2), Louisiana-Lafayette (1), Louisiana-Monroe (1), Loyola (1), Southeastern Louisiana (1), Xavier (1).

The Green Wave finished their indoor season with a 9-22 overall mark, 4-16 in Conference USA, and the program will open their first season of sand volleyball this spring.
