Tulane Women's Volleyball Signs Four Players

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane volleyball team signed four players during the fall signing period head coach Betsy Becker Ferrer announced Wednesday.

Prep standouts Katie Case, Iman Houston, Deva Fowler and Lindsey Norman committed to Tulane on Wednesday and are the first members of the incoming 2001 class.

We are very excited to have such a great group of young ladies come in next year, Becker Ferrer said. They all have solid backgrounds through the competitive club teams they have been a part of and each player will contribute to the team. We are fortunate to have them representing Tulane.

Case, a native of Naperville, Ill., played for the nationally renowned club team Sports Performance. This 5-10 setter helped lead her club team to a second place finish at the USVBA National Junior Olympics Open Division. She has played in every match at Bennett Academy for the past three years and received all-region honors this fall. Case chose Tulane over Purdue, Louisville, Duke and Georgetown.

Houston, a 6-1 middle hitter/right side, hails from Kincaid High School in Houston, Texas. She plays on the Houston Juniors club team.

Fowler, a native of San Diego, Calif., received all-conference and all-region honors at University City High School. The 6-2 middle hitter is a member of the San Diego Volleyball Club. Fowler chose Tulane over Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Michigan and Kansas State.

Rounding out the fall signees is Norman, a 5-9 outside hitter/defensive specialist from Glendale, Ariz. Norman hails from Apollo High School, the 2000 4A Arizona State Champions. She is also a member of the Arizona Juniors Volleyball Club. Norman chose Tulane over Wyoming.

The Green Wave is set to play it s first match of the 2000 Healthy Choice Volleyball Championship on Thursday, November 16 in Charlotte, N.C. The No. 6 seed Tulane takes on the No. 11 seed Memphis at 5 p.m.
