NEW ORLEANS, La. - Winning the 2006 Kathy Trosclair Memorial Tournament over the weekend was a great beginning to our season and we could not be more excited.

First-match jitters were dealt with during our match against Lamar on Friday night, and then anything left over was taken care of early Saturday afternoon against McNeese State. That left us ready for the finale with our fellow- city rival, UNO. It was a battle from the beginning, as all great games are, and it put our training to the test and we can out on top.

It was one thing to prove to ourselves that our hard work put in during the preseason would pay off, but to be able to do it in front of friends, family, and other Tulane fans made it that much better. The outpouring of positive response we have received from people that were at the matcheses, especially that last one, was amazing.

It feels great that they have seen something special in our team that we ourselves have known for a while. They can see that the time and energy we have put in was not in vain and was done with a purpose. Performing well and winning makes it all worth it.

During `Fan Day" on Sunday, so many kind people congratulated our team for our successful tournament win. Even people unfamiliar with the sport of volleyball are excited for us. It was nice to get to meet fans of Tulane Athletics and see them take our schedules and say how excited they are to come to our future home matches. It always means a lot to us all, especially to the young players, to see this kind of support.

This past weekend was our first chance to prove ourselves as a team capable of a great season. Right now we are undefeated, a perfect record (3-0), and I know it is something we will not let go of very easily. Thanks again for all your support and I hope to see you all at Fogelman for our next home match on Friday, Sept. 29, against East Carolina!
