Tulane Postpones Volleyball Home Opener Scheduled For Monday

Aug. 28, 2008

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane athletic department has cancelled Monday's volleyball home opener against Florida A&M. The Green Wave, which open the regular season Friday at the BYU Molten Classic, will remain on a West Coast road trip and travel directly to their next tournament, the Paso Robles Marriott Invitational at Cal Poly.

The Green Wave face Missouri on Friday, followed by No. 20 BYU and Utah State on Saturday in Provo, Utah. Tulane was slated to return from Provo on Sunday, but with the forecast for Tropical Storm Gustav showing potential inclement weather arriving as early as Monday, the Green Wave will head directly to San Luis Obispo, Calif. The Wave will meet host Cal Poly on Sept. 5, Northeastern and No. 7 Nebraska on Sept. 6 at the Paso Robles Marriott Invitational.

Tulane's new home opener will be the Allstate Sugar Bowl at Fogelman Arena on Sept. 12, in which the Wave take on Jacksonville State at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 13, the tournament continues with Tulane squaring off with North Dakota State at 11 a.m., followed by a meeting with Maryland at 8 p.m.

The match with Florida A&M has not been rescheduled at this time.
