Jaye Loyd, who played for Tulane in 2009, will now be an assistant coach for the indoor volleyball program.
March 21, 2013
"Jaye is familiar with this program and department and she showed steady improvement and understanding of what it takes to be a good coach and a recruiter in the college level," said Momic. "As she continues to grow and develop as a coach, Jaye will continue to contribute to this program."
Loyd played her final season of collegiate volleyball at Tulane in 2009 after playing her first three years at the University of Tennessee. During her lone season wearing the Olive and Blue, Loyd appeared in 23 matches. The Green Wave volleyball program earned an NCAA Tournament berth during her senior campaign. During that season, Loyd posted 125 digs and added 36 assists.
After returning to Knoxville, Tenn., to compete her degree in 2010, Loyd rejoined the Tulane volleyball program during the summer of 2011, acting as the director of operations for the indoor squad and also as the interim sand volleyball head coach. Loyd coordinated team travel during the indoor campaign and guided the sand volleyball program to their first ever victory on March 14, 2012 against Stetson.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work in a more active role with the volleyball program," said Loyd. "It's exciting to work with coach Momic and the rest of the staff. Having been a part of this program in the past, I understand the history and traditions that are a part of Tulane volleyball."
In her role as second assistant coach, Loyd will be responsible for handling all aspects of recruiting, while training passers and liberos in addition to assisting in scouting.
