TULANE HEAD VOLLEYBALL Liz Kritza
On the team coming out on fire and not letting up
"Today we got better at recognizing that we have an advantage over a team, playing a clean game of volleyball and allowing that advantage to win the match for you. We did not have to go back and forth and let momentum swings occur. I thought we did a very good job of that as a group and our setters did a good job, too. I told them before the third set that the idea was to go out there, play as efficiently as possible, make sure we stay focused and stay in system for as many points in a row as we can. I thought we did that very well."
On the job Jen Linder did on Sunday at SMU
"Jen Linder had a fantastic match today. The key for her today was consistency and she really embodies that."
On the team's performance over the weekend as a whole
"Obviously as a team, both as players and coaches, we expect a few balls to be better. We always want more and if we are ever satisfied, we are in trouble. But overall, it is good to come off last weekend's performance, go on the road - where it is always difficult to play - and we are pleased to pick up two conference wins against a pair of quality opponents."
On hitting .469 as a team
"Our overall team hitting percentage is important because we were more efficient and made fewer errors. There were times when we had this many points, but our errors were dragging our hitting percentage down. Today, they understood a little better on how to stay in system and how to get that kill - even if it was the second or third swing. That is progress. We worked on trying to improve. It was not just, `Can we play good enough to win?' It was, `Can we play good enough to win and get better at something today?' Clearly we got better at being efficient and taking advantage of our offensive advantage."
On her biggest surprise of the match
"What I really like to see in our hitting percentage is no hitting errors in the second set alone. When you are hitting at that clip with the system that we run, that is a good sign. We are going to be tough to beat if our setters are running this way. Obviously, our first contact was very stable. Our passing was much improved, which was good to see. When you play a match and you tell players that there is some skill that they need to improve on before the next match and they do just that, that is a good sign that you have mature players who are moving in the direction that you want them to be."
On Sara Radosevic leading the team with 13 digs
"Sara is typically one of our offensive leaders, and hit .444, but she came up with a team-high 13 digs. It was another good sign from her, and her being able to carry both an offensive and defensive load for us will be key the rest of the season."
SENIOR MIDDLE BLOCKER Jen Linder
On her performance today at SMU
"Coming off the Tulsa match and having a great game there too, I just wanted to extend that. I have a few former teammates on the SMU team and it is my last time coming here to play them, so I wanted to go out and play hard. Everybody played hard today. The passing especially helped. It's the only way you can run the middle is if you get a good pass."
On the team coming out on fire and never letting up
"We put UAB behind us, but it still burns in the back of our minds. We just wanted to play a complete match and this may be the first complete-match from start to finish that we've played with no let downs and just staying up the whole time."
