CINCINNATI - The Tulane volleyball team swept Xavier Saturday night at the Cintas Center, 3-0 (25-22, 27-25, 25-18), to win its fifth-straight match. Senior opposite hitter Bridget Wells connected for a .379 hitting percentage and a team-best 16 kills, while freshman outside hitter Visnja Djurdjevic chipped in 10 kills on a .409 percentage.

"Despite some struggles with our first contact early and not siding out at our usual rate, this team pulled together and came away with a good victory tonight," head coach Liz Kritza said. "Our system enables us to have multiple hitters be weapons for us and any given night, they are capable of scoring over 15-points. Tonight we had a balanced attack, our back row provided a 53-39 advantage in digs and that's why we pulled away at the end of games one and two."

Junior libero Jenn Miller led Tulane's defense with 14 digs, while senior outside hitter Sara Radosevic added 10 to go with seven kills and Djurdjevic contributed nine digs as well.

The Green Wave improve to 7-4 on the season, while dropping the Musketeers to 5-6 overall.

Senior setter Luna Rebrovic recorded 28 assists, while freshman Jordaliz Mercado added 11. Junior outside hitter Ksenija Vlaskovic and senior middle blocker Jen Linder each posted six kills for the Wave.

In set one, the Wave struggled to get going early before a kill from Vlaskovic and ace from Djurdjevic gave Tulane a 7-6 lead. Xavier surged ahead, 15-12, before the Wave reeled off a 5-1 run, highlighted by two kills from Wells. Lauren Kaminsky posted two kills and an ace for Xavier, but the Wave answered with a kill from Vlaskovic to tie the game at 22-22. Then Tulane ended with a 3-0 run as Rebrovic served an ace, and on set point= Linder and Wells teamed up for a block.

Wells opened set two with back-to-back kills, but despite two blocks from the front row, Xavier led 6-5. The Musketeers held a 12-9 advantage before Linder drilled one down the line and Wells picked up a kill off the block. Two-straight kills from Djurdjevic kicked off an 11-2 run for the Green Wave. The Musketeers answered with five-straight of their own to tie the game, 20-20. Tied at 23, the Musketeers took the advantage, but Radosevic answered with a kill. Wells then recorded three-straight kills to take the second set.

Tulane opened to a 9-1 lead in set three, before Xavier crawled back to within 13-9. Wells rattled another off the block and Vlaskovic blasted an attempt off the back row for a 17-12 Tulane lead. The Green Wave stretched the margin back out to 21-14. Radosevic got her fingertips on the floor under the ball for a dig, got up and promptly blasted the return set home for a 23-15 lead. The Wave closed it out after that off a kill from Wells.

Tulane hit .282 in game three, holding the Musketeers to a .086 hitting percentage.

The Green Wave take on Middle Tennessee State on Sunday, at 1 p.m. CT in a neutral site match at Cintas Center.
