Maria Woods is in her sixth year as Senior Associate Athletic Director and Senior Women's Administrator, and oversees many aspects of Tulane student service areas.
Woods spent the previous 12 years at Western Carolina University where she was the assistant athletic director and SWA for over four years. She began her athletic career as an assistant athletic trainer at WCU in 1992. In addition to her athletic duties, Woods was a member of the faculty from 1999-2002 in the College of Health and Human Performances. In 2006, Woods served on the NCAA Division I Volleyball Selection Committee.
A native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Woods completed her bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science from the University of Florida in 1990 and earned her master's in education from Converse in 1992. She is also a certified athletic trainer and a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.
The former Maria Ochoa, she is married to Thomas Woods - the wide receivers coach for the Tulane football team. The couple resides in New Orleans and has two children: Thomas, Jr. (2) and Alexander (infant).
