Becker on Hurst: ?We?re really expecting a lot out of Britney this year. She?s our lone senior and we?ll be counting on her to produce both offensively and defensively again this year. We plan on using her offensive strength and power in the front and back court. I think she will step up to the challenge and become the player we all want and need her to be. She?s so powerful and we?ll have to utilize that because of the serious competition we?ll be playing.?

2001: Played in 106 games and all 30 matches as a junior?earned first-team All-Louisiana recognition and second-team All-Conference USA honors after leading the team in kills (485), kills per game (4.85) and attack percentage (.285), while finishing second on the squad in digs (336), digs per game (3.17) and service aces (30)?ranked fifth in Conference USA in kills per game and 10th in digs per game?tallied double-digit kill totals in 27 matches, including six matches with 20-plus kills and a career-high 27 kills at Southern Miss (10/5)...totaled double-digit dig totals on 19 occasions, including 10 matches with 15-plus digs and a career-best 22 digs at Houston (9/21)?finished the year with 18 double-doubles (kills/digs), including five straight to open the year and a string of seven matches from Oct. 5-25?earned all-tournament honors at the NOKIA Sugar Bowl Classic when she averaged 6.41 kills and 4.08 digs in the five-team tournament while also chipping in six aces and two blocks?followed that performance with another all-tourney showing at the Kathy Trosclair Memorial Classic when she averaged 4.38 kills and 2.69 digs?finished sixth on the team in blocks (46), including a career-high six blocks vs. DePaul (10/20).

2000: Played in 78 games and 28 matches as a sophomore?led the team in blocks per game (1.03) while finishing second on the squad in solo blocks (13) and third on the club in kills (219), kills per game (2.81), total blocks (80) and block assists (67)?posted double-digit kill totals on nine occasions, including a 20-kill performance vs. Southern Miss (10/20) and a season-high 26 kills vs. Tennessee at the Florida Volleyball Conference Challenge (11/24)?recorded a season-best seven digs twice while posting season highs with nine assists vs. Saint Louis, two service aces vs. UNO and four solo blocks vs. Memphis in the Conference USA Tournament to set a league tourney record?set a C-USA Tournament record with seven solo blocks in the Green Wave?s two postseason matches?recorded a .545 attack percentage against UNO with six kills and no errors in 11 swings.

1999: Played in 31 games and 18 matches as a true freshman?in a reserve role, finished with two double-digit kill matches and one double-digit dig contest?posted a double-double against Southern (Oct. 12) with 10 kills and a season-high 14 digs while tallying a .474 attack percentage with one error in 19 swings?put away a season-best 14 kills vs. Charlotte (Oct. 15)?served up aces and recorded a season-best two block assists in a pair of contests against Southern (9/21 and 10/12).

High School: Four-year letterwinner at Southern Lab for coach Michelle Johnson?earned District MVP honors her final two prep seasons, and helped lead the Lady Kittens to their first trip to the state playoffs as a junior?as a senior, named Female Athlete of the Year for the City of Baton Rouge, first-team all-parish and honorable-mention all-state while being selected to play in the state All-Star game?also lettered four times in track and field, where she helped Southern Lab win a pair of state championships and won the state high jump title as a junior...was a two-time letterwinner in basketball, where she helped lead the Lady Kittens to a Sweet 16 appearance in 1999?set the state IA record high jump with a leap of 5-7.25, and helped set the state record in the 4x200-meter relay?off the court, was a four-year member of the Honor Roll and had the highest grade point average on the volleyball, basketball and track teams.

Personal: Born Britney Monet Hurst on Oct. 20, 1981 in Baton, Rouge, La?daughter of Darryl and Mauretta Hurst?has one brother, Daryl, who plays football at Southern University?chose Tulane over Iowa, Texas, Southern and UNO?majoring in biology/pre-medicine.
