Hello Tulane Volleyball faithful!

This marks the first foreign tour that Tulane Volleyball had taken in its history and it couldn't come at a better time.

Once every four years, as allowed by the NCAA, nationally competitive teams from universities all over the country have made it common practice to head to international locales to train and compete during the summer break for a few weeks. Teams take these types of tours for a number of reasons: to raise their level of play, bond as a team, and to grow individually and as a group through challenges and new experiences. The timing of these tours is crucial because you want to take the trip when it will maximize the effect on the group.

Coming off of last season, which proved to be arguably the best in the school history, expectations are very high for this group. I know that this is a special group of young women and at this point in their individual and team development, an amazing opportunity like this will help them to make significant strides and position Tulane Volleyball firmly on the national volleyball scene. Looking forward to the 2008 schedule, we are playing a formidable non-conference schedule from anyone's perspective and the Conference race will no doubtedly be hotly contested.

We decided that this was the year we needed to make this commitment to our team's success, especially if we want to be counted in that list of elite programs in the nation. We will return all 13 players from the 2007 roster and all starters as well. We head into the 2008 season with 7 players seniors and a very competitive schedule. We will travel to Croatia to train and play a variety of different teams and to experience a beautiful culture that has become very close to our program, as Coach Sinisa Momic and two of our players, Luna Rebrovic and Sara Radosevic, hail from the capital city of Zagreb. This trip will cover various regions of the country and will include 10 matches in 17 days. Each member of the team travel party will report back in a blog each day, detailing the days events and giving an insight into the trip. There will be no doubt some funny stories, memorable moments, and evidence a cultural exchange going on....the first is to learn the word "odbojka"- volleyball in Croatian.
