This weekend's line-up includes host Auburn, Mississippi State, Tulane, Northwestern State, Lamar, Houston, Georgia Southern, UT Chattanooga, Kennesaw State and Louisiana-Lafayette. There will be 7-8 flights and play will begin at 9 a.m. both days. The field will play two rounds of singles and one round of doubles on Friday and one singles and two doubles rounds on Saturday.
"We are very excited to get the season started this weekend at Auburn," Tulane head coach Terri Sisk said. "Obviously we didn't get to start the year under ideal circumstances but all we want to do is to compete and get some match play under our belt. This year is the first true season that we have several choices to make about combinations in our doubles line-up and singles strength so I'm excited to see the girls really compete in an unfamiliar situation so we can get a grasp on pairings. I expect a great weekend for this team."
The 2012-13 Tulane women's tennis squad returns seven letterwinners from last season's team that posted a 19-6 overall record and concluded the spring ranked No. 58 nationally and No. 4 in the Southern Region.
Levy is a three-time All-Conference USA selection, who posted a 26-8 overall singles mark while primarily playing the No. 2 position in the line-up. Thornton held down the No. 3 spot in the line-up and was a third-team All C-USA selection last season with a 17-14 record, while Magnusson, an All-Louisiana performer, led the Wave with a singles mark of 30-7 while playing at No. 4. Helisten was 12-3 while Elster finished 9-3 overall.
Hois was 13-7 at the No. 5 position, while Dvorak played last fall and won her lone outing in a dual match last spring.
This season's squad will feature four newcomers, including three heralded freshmen and an All-Atlantic Coast Conference performer in Clemson transfer Klara Vyskocilova, who comes to Tulane with 45 career singles wins and 49 doubles victories in her first two collegiate seasons.
The 2012-13 campaign marks Sisk's fifth season at the helm of the Green Wave program. Over the last four seasons, Tulane has posted four winning seasons with a combined 56-38 overall record and a 14-8 regular-season mark against Conference USA opponents.
