NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Tulane women's tennis player Anna Monhartova added another entry to her impresive resume on Wednesday when she was named to the Verizon Academic All-America Spring Women's At-Large Team.

A senior from Plzen, Czech Republic, Monhartova was named to the third team, becoming the first women's tennis player to earn Academic All-America honors from the organization. She had previously earned Academic All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in each of the last two seasons.

The recognition capped off a three-year career at Tulane which saw Monhartova win a host of awards and honors both on the court and in the classroom. She was named the Conference USA Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year and helped lead the Green Wave to its first-ever Conference USA title. She became the first Tulane women's tennis player to earn a berth in the singles draw of the NCAA Tournament, and was just one win away from picking up All-America honors. She was named GTE Academic All-District honors and was selected as the Southwest Region's Arthur Ashe Sportsmanship and Leadership award winner for the second straight season.

Monhartova was also named as Tulane's female Student-Athlete of the Year. In addition, Monhartova was one of six C-USA student-athletes to earn a Postgraduate Scholarship from the league office. After being selected by Faculty Athletics Representatives from each league school, the winners are presented with a $4,000 scholarship.
