Monhartova, Cook Earn All-Conference USA Recognition

NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Tulane women's tennis standouts Anna Monhartova and Maiko Cook each earned All-Conference USA honors, the league announced Tuesday.

Monhartova was one of six players named to the first team, picking up first team recognition for the second straight season. So far this season, Monhartova has compiled a record of 14-9 at No. 1 singles and is 13-7 in doubles play with teammate Jessica Kessler. Originally from Plzen, Czech Republic, Monhartova won all three of her matches at the Conference USA Tournament

Cook was named to the All-Conference USA third team after playing No. 2 singles for Tulane. A native of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Cook was also a third team choice last season.

The Green Wave now await word on a bid to the 2000 NCAA Championships. The squad has an overall record of 14-9 and recently finished third at the Conference USA Tournament. Five of the Wave's wins and seven of the team's losses have come against ranked opponents.
