NEW ORLEANS - On the strength of its singles play, the Tulane women's tennis team defeated Nicholls State, 5-1, Saturday at Goldring Tennis Stadium. The win moves the 34th-ranked Green Wave record to 16-3 this season.
Tulane was able to earn the win despite losing the No. 1 singles match, as Anna Monhartova was defeated by NSU's Romana Tedtakusuma, 6-4, 6-1. It was just Monhartova's second loss of the season in 19 matches.
The Green Wave won at each of the remaining five singles positions, as Maiko Cook, Jessica Kessler, Jennifer Ligator, Anneli Axsater and Molly Rollauer each won in straight sets.
Tulane will next be in action on Sunday, April 11, as the team hosts the University of South Alabama. The match will be played at Goldring Tennis Stadium and begin at 10 a.m.
