New Orleans - The Tulane women's tennis team will wrap its home portion of the 2014 spring schedule this Thursday at 1 p.m. against Conference USA newcomer UTSA at the City Park Pepsi Center. There is no charge for admission.
Thursday's contest will also serve as the final home contest for senior Klara Vyskocilova, who will don the Olive & Blue for the final time on her home courts. Vyskocilova is the nation's 52nd-ranked singles player and will look to conclude the regular season with a perfect dual record. She brings a mark of 10-0 at the top spot into Thursday's match-up with the Roadrunners. Vyskocilova also sports a 12-match win streak that dates back to last fall, is 17-6 on the year and 5-2 against nationally-ranked opponents.
The Green Wave (4-18) will look to close out the year with a win in its final home match and will also attempt to complete the regular season with a 2-1 record against C-USA opponents. Tulane downed Southern Miss in the spring opener and fell to Rice in March.
"This year has truly flown by, but we are thrilled to have our last home match tomorrow against another competitive team and also to honor, Klara, our lone senior," Tulane head coach Terri Sisk said. "She has been with us for two years and has made an incredible run at the top position in both singles and doubles. Her level of tennis will definitely be missed next year but we wish her the best in her future."
UTSA is 10-9 overall this season, including 4-7 on the road, and will be playing its first match against a C-USA opponent this spring.
The Green Wave women's tennis team will play all of its home matches this spring at the City Park Pepsi Center. The City Park Pepsi Tennis Center features 16 hard and 10 clay courts, a clubhouse with a pro shop, restrooms, showers and a meeting room. The facility is located off Marconi Blvd. between I-610 and Harrison Avenue. For more information on City Park Pepsi Center, please visit http://www.neworleanscitypark.com/tennis.html.
