Women's Tennis Cruises Past Texas Tech

NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Tulane's Anna Monhartova improved her spring record to 13-0, as the Green Wave claimed an 8-1 win over Texas Tech at the Goldring Tennis Stadium on Saturday.

Monhartova was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Texas Tech's Zana Zlebnik at No. 1 singles and has not lost since November 7, 1998. Tulane's Jennie Ligator and Anneli Axsater each claimed 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, while Molly Rollauer was a 6-4, 6-0 winner at No. 5 singles. The Wave's Joyce Bergman was a default winner at No. 6 singles.

In doubles action, Ligator and Bergman teamed to give Tulane an 8-5 win at the No. 1 spot, while Axsater and Rollauer were 8-1 winners at the No. 2 doubles position. Monhartova and Maiko Cook were default winners at No. 3 doubles.

The dual match win was Tulane's third in a row and improved the Green Wave to 11-2 this season. The Green Wave will be back in action on Sunday, as Tulane plays host to Conference USA rival UAB at the Goldring Tennis Stadium.
