New Orleans - The Tulane women's tennis team puts its two-match win streak and No. 48 national ranking on the line this Wednesday at 2 p.m. when the Illinois State Redbirds fly into the Crescent City to take on the Green Wave at the City Park Pepsi Center. There is no charge for admission.
Tulane (7-5) enters the match-up coming off back-to-back wins over No. 38 Georgia State (4-3) on the road and at home vs. Conference USA rival UAB (7-0) in its most recent outing. The Wave has won four of its last five and boasts 5-1 home mark this season.
Four Green Wave players have notched 10 or more singles victories this season, including senior Emma Levy (14), junior Klara Vyskocilova (13), freshman Jacqui Katz (11) and freshman Ipek Birol (10). Levy enters the contest riding a four-match win streak in singles.
In doubles action, the senior duo of Caroline Magnusson and Caroline Thornton sports a 12-6 record to lead the team.
"We are coming off a nice conference win and looking forward to continuing that momentum versus Illlinois State on Wednesday," Tulane head coach Terri Sisk said. "We are really focused right now on our attention to detail and making sure we are going to peak towards the end of the season as our year-end goals are quickly approaching. This match will be another opportunity for us to continue to execute our game plan."
Illinois State comes into the match with a 5-5 overall record and will play UNO (3/12), Tulane (3/13) and McNeese State (3/14) in New Orleans this week. Heading into the stretch, the Redbirds had dropped their last three outings and had a 2-4 road mark this spring.
