New Orleans - The Tulane women's tennis team journeys to the West Coast this week for a pair of matches against nationally ranked opponents. The Green Wave will take on No. 57 Long Beach State on Thursday, March 6 at 12 p.m. (CST) in Long Beach, Calif., and returns to action on Sunday at 12 p.m. (CST) against No. 54 St. Mary's on Moraga, Calif.

The Green Wave (4-8) is coming off a 4-3 win over St. John's at home in its last outing on March 1and will playing in its first true road contests of the season this week. Seven of TU's eight losses this season have come to Top-60 teams, so the Wave will be looking to take down its first ranked opponent of the season.

Tulane's line-up features 62nd-ranked senior Klara Vyskocilova, who boasts a 14-6 overall record, including a perfect dual mark of 7-0, and has won her last nine contests dating back to last fall.

"We are ready to compete once again on the road this week in California," Tulane head coach Terri Sisk said. "We are playing two matches on the road against nationally ranked teams that we have never faced before so that alone is exciting because the monotony factor is out of the equation. We will definitely be pushed, but I truly believe we are ready to turn the corner and up for this challenge."

Long Beach State is 7-1 overall and boasts a perfect mark of 5-0 on its home courts this season. Since falling in the season opener to Washington, the 49ers have reeled off seven straight wins.

St. Mary's is 3-5 overall and all five of its losses have come to Top-40 ranked opponents. The Gaels are 1-0 at home this season and will host Texas Tech on Friday before facing the Green Wave.
