NEW ORLEANS -Tulane senior Klara Vyskocilova has been rewarded by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for her back-to-back upsets of nationally ranked players and unblemished dual record of 6-0 with a No. 62 singles ranking.
A native of Klatovy, Czech Republic, Vyskocilova returns to the nation's elite after being ranked in singles during the entire 2013 campaign and was last ranked among the top players in the country last fall.
This season, she boasts a 13-6 overall record, but more importantly is perfect at the top singles spot this spring, and has won her last eight contests dating back to last season.
"I am truly excited for Klara," Tulane head coach Terri Sisk said. "She has demonstrated with these two most recent wins that she is quite capable of competing with anyone in the country. Her determination on the court to succeed is absolutely fun to watch and I fully expect her to continue her impressive run and make the NCAA's."
Over the last three weeks, Vyskocilova has pulled off an upset of one of the Top-100 players in the nation. After stunning Auburn's 21st-ranked Pleun Bergmans on Feb. 14, Vyskocilova upended Yale's 97th-ranked Madeleine Hamilton, 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (11) on Feb. 23.
Vyskocilova and the Green Wave return to action this Saturday, March 1 at 10 a.m. against St. John's at the City Park Pepsi Center. There is no charge for admission.
