NEW ORLEANS - Tulane's Anna Monhartova rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the third set to claim a victory at No. 1 singles to lead the Green Wave to a 7-2 win over Conference USA rival Southern Miss at the Goldring Tennis Facility on Tuesday.

After losing the first set to USM's Caroline Weems 6-2, Monhartova rallied in the second set to tie the score with a 6-2 win of her own. Weems took a seemingly commanding 4-1 lead in the third and deciding set before Monhartova took over. She claimed a 7-5 win to take the No. 1 singles position 2-6, 6-2, 7-5. The win gave Tulane the dual-match victory with a 5-1 record after singles play.

The win was Tulane's third straight dual-match win, improving the Green Wave to 3-0.

Tulane's Maiko Cook was impressive at the No. 2 singles spot, claiming a 6-0, 6-1 win over USM's Patricia Kundisova. Jennie Ligator won the No. 3 position with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Tina Rautajoki, while Tulane's Joyce Bergman was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Jackie Prew at No. 4 singles. Anneli Axsater claimed the No. 5 spot for Tulane with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 win over USM's Marie Lindberg, but Molly Rollauer dropped a 1-6, 3-6 decision to USM's Shaundra Price at the No. 6 position.

Bergman and Ligator captured the No. 1 doubles match with an 8-2 win over Prew and Kundisova, while the Tulane duo of Monhartova and Jessica Kessler was an 8-4 winner over the Price/Rautajoki at No. 3 doubles. Cook and Rollauer were not as fortunate, dropping an 8-5 match with Weems and Lindberg at the No. 3 doubles spot.
