New Orleans - The 55th-ranked Tulane women's tennis team will head east this weekend for an early season tune-up as part of the five-team field competing in the Clemson Winter Indoor Classic at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center in Clemson, S.C. Matches are expected to last all day.

The three-day tournament will feature players from Charleston Southern, host and 22nd-ranked Clemson, Kansas, LSU and Tulane. The format will be a flighted draw in both singles and doubles. The Classic is not a team event and an individual winner from each singles and doubles flight will be declared on the final day.

"We are excited to kick off our spring season with such strong competition this weekend at the Clemson Winter Indoor Classic," Tulane head coach Terri Sisk said. "With five solid teams participating, we will be able to gauge where we are physically and mentally for such a tough schedule ahead for us this spring. The first matches after the holiday break are always telling on several key elements so it will certainly help with our future preparation and plans for the remainder of the spring. It will definitely be a great test and one that I feel we will do well with."

The field features four nationally-ranked singles players, including Tulane's No. 118 Klara Vyskocilova and the Clemson trio of No. 32 Yana Koroleva, No. 69 Romy Kölzer and No. 77 Beatrice Gumulya, while the Green Wave's No. 48 doubles duo of Emma Levy and Vyskocilova is the only nationally-ranked doubles tandem in the field.

Freshman Jacqui Katz led the Green Wave with a 9-2 record during the fall, while Vyskocilova, who is in her first season at Tulane after transferring from Clemson last August, is 7-2, while Levy is 7-4, freshman Ipek Birol sports a 6-1 mark and senior Emma Helisten is 5-2.
