NEW ORLEANS - Tulane's doubles tandems of senior Klara Vyskocilova and sophomore Jacqui Katz and junior Emily Dvorak and sophomore Meredith Maltby each teamed up to post third place finishes in their respective doubles draws, as the Wave completed the fall portion of its 2013-14 campaign this past weekend at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Tulane's doubles squads combined for a 4-2 mark for the event. Vyskocilova and Katz downed Mississippi State's duo of Georgiana Patrasc and Petra Ferancova, 8-6, in the first round, but dropped a hard fought 8-6 decision to Alabama's Carmen Blanco and Emily Zabor in its semifinals. However, the TU team rebounded with an 8-4 victory over Northwestern's Jillian Rooney and Manon Peri in the third place match.

Dvorak and Maltby opened play with a convincing 8-2 win over UNC-Greensboro's Steph Falcon and Alisha Burton but fell in their second match to Northwestern's Lok Sze Leung and Furman's Ansley Speaks, 8-3. In the third place contest, Tulane's duo downed Middle Tennessee State's Alexa Torres and Flavia Nagayama, 8-3.

In singles action, Katz and Dvorak each advanced to the third place matches in their respective draws but came up short. Katz defeated Loyola Marymount's Laura Mueller, 6-1, 6-0, in her first contest, but fell to Clemson's Annie Lynn Miao, 6-2, 6-1. In the third place match, Leung downed Katz, 6-3, 6-2.

Dvorak started off with a three-set win over Vanderbilt's Maggie Leavell, 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-3, but lost to Loyola Marymount's Lisa Pillar in the semifinals, 6-3, 7-5. Dvorak then dropped a, 6-2, 6-0, decision to Samford's AnnMarie Lyon in the third place match.

Vyskocilova and Maltby each lost their first round matches, but both players rebounded with a pair of victories to claim the consolation titles. Vyskocilova fell to Northwestern's Belinda Niu, 6-3, 7-6, but came back to drop Georgia State's Masa Grgan, 6-2, 6-3, and then took the consolation with a, 6-3, 6-3, win over Mississippi State's Alexandra Perper.

Maltby, meanwhile, fell to Blanco, 6-4, 6-2, but grabbed a, 6-1, 6-1, win over UNC-Greensboro's Yasmin Franco, 6-1, 6-1. Maltby then claimed a, 7-5, 6-3, victory against UAB's Caroline Faught in the consolation final.
