Women's Tennis Advances to C-USA Tournament Semifinals

St. Louis, Mo. - - The Tulane women's tennis team used straight-set wins at five singles positions to claim a 5-0 victory over Memphis at the Conference USA Women's Tennis Tournament on Friday.

The top-seeded Green Wave lost a total of just 13 games against the ninth-seeded Lady Tigers, winning five singles to claim the best-of-nine match Tulane moves on to face either fifth-seeded UAB or fourth-seeded South Florida in Saturday's semifinals.

Tulane's Anna Monhartova improved to 19-2 in singles play, posting a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Christina Ladyman at the No. 1 spot. Jessica Kessler was impressive in a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 3 spot, while Anneli Axsater improved her Spring record to 17-3 with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 6 position. Joyce Bergman was a 6-2, 6-4 winner in the No. 4 match, while Jenny Ligator claimed a 6-4, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 spot.

The Green Wave defeated both UAB and South Florida earlier this season, posting a 9-0 win over the Lady Blazers on March 21 and a 7-2 victory over USF on March 29.
