Women's Tennis Falls to South Alabama

NEW ORLEANS, La. - - South Alabama swept all three doubles matches to claim a 6-3 win over the Tulane women's tennis team at the Goldring Tennis Stadium on Sunday.

With the score knotted at 3-3 after singles play, the 26th-ranked Lady Jaguars claimed wins at all three doubles positions. Martina Ondrejkova and Iva Puflerova were 9-7 winners over Tulane's Joyce Bergman and Jennie Ligator at No. 1 doubles, while the Green Wave duo of Anna Monhartova and Maiko Cook dropped an 8-5 decision to the USA tandem of Marketa Blazkova and Lenka Jakubekova at the No. 2 doubles spot. South Alabama's Tracey Gobey and Carolina Toyre claimed the No. 3 doubles position with an 8-4 win over Anneli Axsater and Molly Rollauer.

In singles play, Tulane's Anna Monhartova improved to 18-2 in singles play with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ondrejkova at the No. 1 spot. Jessica Kessler gave the Green Wave a win at the No. 3 position with a default win over Vanda Novakova. Jennifer Ligator was also a winner for Tulane, claiming a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win over Blazkova at the No. 5 spot.

Tulane returns to action this weekend at the Conference USA Tournament, held at Saint Louis University.
