Women's Tennis Falls to LSU

NEW ORLEANS, La. - - LSU earned wins in four of six singles matches en route to a 5-4 victory over the Tulane women's tennis team at the Goldring Tennis Stadium on Thursday.

Tulane's Anna Monhartova improved her singles record to 17-1, posting a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ana Paula Mores at No. 1 singles. Jessica Kessler also earned a win for Tulane, coming from down a set for a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Fernanda Tsucamoto at the No. 3 spot. 61st-ranked LSU earned wins at No. 2, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 to take a 4-2 lead into doubles.

Needing just one win to secure the victory, LSU posted a 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles, as Mores and Bruna Colosia were winners over Joyce Bergman and Jennifer Ligator. Tulane got wins at No. 2 doubles from Monhartova and Maiko Cook, and at No. 3 doubles from Anneli Axsater and Molly Rollauer.

With the loss, 34th-ranked Tulane falls to 15-3 on the season.

The Green Wave returns to action on Saturday, as Tulane plays host to Nicholls State at the Goldring Tennis Stadium. Match time is set to begin at 12 p.m.
