MOBILE, Ala. - The Tulane's women's tennis team lost to 14th-ranked South Alabama Thursday. This marked the third straight Top 30 opponent Tulane has faced.
Anna Monhartova and Jessica Kessler provided Tulane's points with wins in singles, taking the No. 1 and No. 4 matches, respectively. Monhartova was a 7-6, 6-3 winner at the No. 1 spot, downing South Alabama's Silvia Sosnarova. Kessler, who has won four straight matches and eight of her last nine, posted a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over the Jaguar's Marcela Kotesovocova at the No. 4 spot.
South Alabama claimed wins at the No. 2, 3, 5 and 6 singles matches and swept all three doubles matches. The loss was Tulane's third straight, though all three have come against opponents ranked in the Top 30.
Tulane's will next play Sunday, March 26, 2000, at noon vs. Rice at the Goldring Tennis Complex on Tulane's campus.
