NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Houston claimed a three-set win at No. 3 singles to post a 4-3 win over the Tulane women's tennis team at the Goldring Tennis Stadium on Sunday.

With the match tied at 3-3, Houston's Analia Longoni posted a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Tulane's Ana Saaibi at the No. 3 spot to give the Cougars the 4-3 team victory.

Tulane jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by winning a pair of doubles matches to claim the opening doubles point. The Wave duo of Lucy Wood and Anneli Axsater cruised at No. 3 doubles, posting an 8-0 win over Houston's Kandace Ridgway and Kailey Meisinger. Saaibi then teamed with Julie Morris to post an 8-2 win over Houston's Jo Keene and Longoni at the No. 2 spot.

Houston then captured wins at the top four singles spots to claim the dual match win. Sarah Borwell, ranked eighth nationally by the ITA, posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over Morris at the No. 1 spot. Houston's Jen Baccarani held of a late rally by Tulane's Joyce Bergman at the No. 2 spot, winning 6-1, 7-5. The Cougars also claimed a win at No. 4 singles when Keene posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Axsater.

Tulane did claim wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Maiko Cook was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Meisinger at the No. 5 spot, while Wood cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Ridgway at the No. 6 position.

Tulane returns to action next Saturday, as the Green Wave play host to Southern Miss and Southern in a double header. The Wave will face Southern Miss at 10 a.m., before facing Southern at approximately 2 p.m. Both matches will be held at the Goldring Tennis Stadium on the Tulane campus.
