Overall thoughts on the matches
"I thought the girls came out, did a really good job and handled their business quickly. It's something that we talked about all week. We really reinforced match play, doubles play and intensity, and I think they did a good job of responding. They didn't sacrifice too many games this morning. The second match was a little bit tougher, but the girls did a good job of remaining focused after a large break like that. We did well in a lot of areas today."
On if fatigue played a factor in the second half of Saturday's twin bill
"I think the girls were getting a little bit tired. It's always tough to play a doubleheader in front of a lot of friends and family. I thought the crowd did a good job of supporting us and helping us knock the nerves off. Having a doubleheader on the very first day to knock the nerves off is tough. The girls did a really good job of settling down and handling the task at hand. I couldn't have asked anything more from them."
On Mariam Kurdadze rallying from an 0-4 deficit to win 6-4 in her final singles match
"Mariam would be the first to tell you that she can get a little bit sloppy. After she wins the first set, she gets a little bit mentally bored. When those issues happen, you look over there and she's down 0-4, she's quit grinding and quit working on what she does well. She did a good job today of regrouping, getting back in the point and playing each point to well. I'm never shocked when Mariam comes back from 0-4. She's a great competitor and a great fighter. We expect great things from her this year."
On Tulane's plans for next week
"Now, we turn out sites to Texas Tech on Friday. They had a great year last year. They're a great team and they've got a roster full of talented players. We'll take tomorrow off, regroup on Monday and look to battle then."
