Spring 2004:Missed much of the season with an injury, but still managed an 8-1 singles record... Ranked as high as 37th in singles by the ITA this year.

Fall 2003: Had a pair of wins over ITA ranked players... Reached the Round of 16 at the ITA Southwest Regional..

Spring 2003: Joined the team in January and earned first-team All-Conference USA honors after posting an 18-6 record in singles play... Was also 19-4 in doubles action with partner Ana Maria Saaibi, playing primarily at the No. 3 spot (14-4)... She and Saaibi won both of their doubles matches in the team portion of the NCAA Tournament... Was also 1-0 in doubles with Lucy Wood... Won the first six matches of her collegiate career... Posted a singles win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Texas... Also won singles matches in the semifinals and finals of the Conference USA Tournament, helping the Green Wave win its second league title in the last three seasons... Finished the year ranked 113th in singles by the ITA.

Prep: Ranked as high as 43rd by the ITF in singles and 46th in doubles... Achieved a ranking of 380 in singles and 376 in doubles by the WTA... Was the top-ranked player in Mexico in 2000 and was No. 2 in 2001 and 2002... Played in the Wimbledon and U.S. Open junior competitions in 2000 and 2001... Attended Open System Preparatory school.

Personal: Erika Leticia Valdes Samaniego was born July 20, 1983 in Mexico City, Mexico... The daughter of Armando Valdes Valdes and Rebeca Samaniego Breach... Has one older brother, Armando.
