Spring 2004: Ranked as high as 114th in singles by the ITA... Won her first 14 completed
matches of the year... Earned a spot on the Conference USA Academic Honor Roll.
Fall 2003: Won a pair of matches at the ITA Southwest Regional.
Spring 2003: Was named second-team All-Conference USA... Also selected as the Outstanding Singles Player of the Conference USA Tournament in helping the Green Wave win its second league title in three years... Won the clinching matches in both the semifinals (against Houston) and TCU (finals) at the No. 5 position... Finished the year with a 19-4 record in singles play, including a 14-3 showing at the No. 5 position... Was also 19-4 in doubles action with partner Erika Valdes, playing primarily at the No. 3 spot (14-4)... She and Valdes won both of their doubles matches in the team portion of the NCAA Tournament... Was selected as the Conference USA Player of the Week on February 4... Had three different winning streaks of four or more victories.
Fall 2002: Posted a 9-2 record in singles play during the fall season... Won all three of her matches at the Texas A&M Round Robin... Reached the Round of 32 in the singles draw of the ITA Southwest Regional... Also reached the quarterfinals of the doubles draw of the Southwest Regional with partner Julie Morris... Won her final five singles matches.
Spring 2002: Joined the team at the start of the spring semester and made an immediate impact... Finished her freshman campaign with a 12-10 record... Picked up nine of those wins at the No. 4 spot... Won 11 of her first 14 matches... Included in those 11 victories were two different four-match winning streaks... Opened her collegiate career with two straight three-set wins... Eight of her singles wins came in straight sets... Was 3-3 at No. 3 singles... Won eight of her nine singles matches from Feb. 23 to March 25... Compiled an 18-7 record in doubles play with two different teammates... Teamed with Julie Morris to post an impressive 16-5 record in doubles... The duo were 15-5 at the No. 2 spot and 1-0 at No. 1... Also posted a 2-2 mark at No. 2 doubles with fellow freshman Maria Ivanov.
Prep: Attended Colegio Panamericano... Played soccer, softball and volleyball, but the school did not field a tennis team... Was a member of the Colombian Federation Cup team in 2001... Was ranked as high as 89th in singles by the International Tennis Federation (ITF)... Was also ranked as high as 57th in doubles by the ITF... Played for South America's Team COSAT during its 1999 European tour.
Personal: Ana Maria Saaibi was born November 8, 1983... The daughter of Jose Gabriel Saaibi and Beatriz Serrano... Sister, Silvia, is a cheerleader... Mother also plays tennis recreationally... Lists Pete Sampras as her favorite tennis player... Intends to major in mechanical engineering.
