On her expectations for the team over the weekend
"I'm expecting a lot of personal bests at this meet. The team has matured significantly over the past year and they're ready for some fast in-season times. We've got a handful of athletes looking to qualify for Winter Nationals in December, so there's a little extra incentive for some of them."
On if the Cougar Classic helps the team prepare for the C-USA Championship
"This meet really helps us prepare for our conference championship. It is run by the same meet director, with the same officiating staff as our conference meet. And, it gives us an opportunity to try some different things with our line-up in regards to individual events and relays and also helps us to determine our 18 scoring athletes for conference."
On her team's performance to date and who has been the surprise of the season so far
"I'm very pleased with the team's performances to date. This team has really grown into the team that I set out to build in 2008. We've still got some growing ahead of us, but we're well on our way. Elizabeth Whitaker has had an outstanding fall so far. I've also been very pleased with the way Gisele Calderon and Emily Needham have been competing. We take them for granted sometimes. Those three are our constants and they're really stepping up this year. From the freshmen, Amy Needham and Laura Turpen have been great surprises. Both ladies have been racing extremely well."
On the area the team needs to improve on the most
"Breaststroke. We're working hard with our breaststrokers on a few different technical aspects of their races. They're training well. We just need to transfer their tenacity in practice to their races."
