2012-13: Participated in all nine meets as a true freshman...recorded a career-best time of 59.34 in the 100 back during the preliminaries of the Phill Hansel Invitational (Nov. 16) to go with season-best marks of 2:05.09 in the 200 back (Feb. 23) and 4:31.65 in the 400 IM (Feb. 22) at the Conference USA Championship, and 2:12.14 in the 200 IM during the preliminaries of the Hansel Invite (Nov. 15)...posted a pair of individual top three finishes, winning the 200 IM at UALR (Oct. 6) and coming in third in the 200 back vs North Texas (Oct. 20)...in relay action, helped the 400 medley unit finish second at UALR with a solid leadoff leg and also swam the third leg of the 800 free at the Phill Hansel Invitational (Nov. 16)...away from the pool, claimed C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and Tulane 3.0 Club recognition, and earned C-USA Academic Medal honors after posting a GPA of 3.75 or higher.
High School: Four-year letterwinner at Princeton High for coach Chris Wolford...named Scholastic All-American in 2011 and 2012 and was tabbed team MVP of each year...set PHS records in 100 back, 200 free and 500 free, finished 15th in state in 200 free in 2012, and was an Ohio state qualifier in 100 back and 200 free as well as 400 free relay in 2011...also lettered three years in tennis...away from the pool, was a member of the National Honor Society and served as president of the Student Council.
Personal: Born Holly Grender on March 2, 1994, in Cincinnati, Ohio...daughter of Anders and Julie Grender...has one brother, Justin, and one sister, Megan...father and mother swam collegiately at Tulane and Virginia Tech, respectively...majoring in finance.
