AUSTIN, Texas - - Senior forward Kelly Wilson totaled a career-best seven points with three goals and an assist to pace a six-goal night for the Longhorns offense as No. 23 Texas (4-2, 0-1 Big 12) recorded a 6-0 shutout victory over Tulane in front of 1,347 fans at Myers Stadium on Friday. Notably, while the win marked the Horns fourth in the last five games, it was also their second shutout of the 2004 campaign.

Four minutes into the first half, Wilson broke UT on top 1-0 as she settled a pass from Amy Burlingham just outside the penalty area and chipped a shot over the head of Tulane goalkeeper Megan Morey's head for her fifth goal of the year. Then, in the 29th minute, Wilson struck again by firing a shot into the left corner of the Tulane goal from eight yards out to give the Horns a 2-0 advantage. That lead would hold through halftime and into the second period before freshman Kelsey Carpenter netted her third goal of the year off a slotted pass from Priscilla Fite to push Texas in front 3-0 at the 59-minute mark. From there, the UT offense scored three more times in the next 20 minutes to prove the 6-0 decision as Wilson completed her third career hat trick at 60:48 and Carrie Schmit and Fite notched their first and second goals of the year, respectively, off a header and a blast at the top of the box.

While Dana Hall, who played over 63 minutes before giving way to Melissa Adrouny, earned the win and posted her sixth career shutout, Morey incurred the loss for Tulane despite posting four saves. On offense, Texas, which out-shot the Green Wave by a 26-3 margin for the match, not only saw Carpenter and Fite register career-high evenings with three points each via one goal and an assist, but also witnessed a career-best, seven-point effort from Wilson that gave her the most hat tricks in school history (3) and made her the school's all-time career points leader (100). Additionally, UT's six goals also marked the most for the club in one match since Oct. 12, 2003, versus Texas Tech when they tallied seven against the Red Raiders. Meanwhile, the Green Wave's attack was led by Brianna Buffington, who recorded Tulane's lone shot on goal.

Tulane returns to action on Sunday, as the Green Wave continue their road trip with a contest at Texas State.
