Women's Golf In 12th Place At Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Tulane women's golfer Pam Buff shot an opening-round 75 Friday and stands tied for eighth place at the Lady Paladin Invitational. She is one of two Green Wave players in the top 15 after the first round of play.

Buff, a junior from Duluth, Ga., posted Tulane's lowest score of the first round with her 75. She is tied with five other golfers for eighth place, five shots out of the lead set by Maria Beautell of Wake Forest.

Teammate Megan Bolger also put forth a solid opening round by carding a 76 and stands in a tie for 14th place. Tulane's solid one-two effort helped the team to a first-round total of 317, which placed the team in 12th position after 18 holes. Wake Forest leads the 24-team field by 11 strokes after the first round with a team total of 295.

Also competing for the Green Wave are Kathy Schafer (T65th/82), Catalina Lara (T86th/84), and Bonnie Hanlin (T101st/87).

The 54-hole event continues through Sunday at the Furman University Golf Course, a par 72, 5,902-yard layout in Greenville, S.C.
