BAYONET POINT, Fla. - Senior Meghan Bolger shot a final-round 72 to lead the Tulane women's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the 1999 Beacon Woods Invitational.
Bolger, a senior from Haddonfield, N.J., posted a three-round total of 222 to finish in a tie for third place. Bolger's final-round 72 was a career low and helped her to the best finish of her collegaite career. She was one of two Green Wave golfers to finish in the top 15.
As a team, Tulane posted a three-round total of 930 to finish sixth in the 12-team event. Mississippi State won the team title with a score of 886, 22 strokes ahead of tournament-host South Florida.
Other Green Wave finishers included Bonnie Hanlin (T12th/229), Kathy Schafer (T32nd/239), Pam Buff (T36th/240) and Marcela Gonzalez (T43rd/243).
The 54-hole event was contested at the Beacon Woods Golf Club, a par 72, 6,015-yard layout. The tournament was hosted by the University of South Florida.
The Tulane women's golf team will next be in action Oct. 29-31 at the Furman Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C.
