New Orleans - Fresh off completing her playing career at Tulane, former Green Wave golfer Stephanie Wagstaff was named a 2011-12 All-America Scholar by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA).

A four-year letterwinner (2008-12) and native of Ashville, N.C., Wagstaff sported 3.63 grade point average and double-majored with a pair of bachelor degrees in ecology and evolutionary biology. She joined former teammate Linn Gustafsson (2010, 2011) as the most recent members of the NGCA All-America Scholar team and Tulane golfers have now received this prestigious award 16 times since 1997.

This past season, Wagstaff played 20 rounds in seven tournaments and carded a 78.30 scoring average for the year. She turned in her best performance with a 21st-place effort at the Conference USA Championships, while her lowest round was a 1-over 73 during the second round of the C-USA Champs.

One of Tulane's first signees when the golf program returned in 2008-09, she helped the Wave to two NCAA Championships appearances, four NCAA Regional showings and two C-USA titles during her career.

In the classroom, Wagstaff was a four-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, Tulane 3.0 Club and was a two-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal.

She was one of three 2012 TU seniors who were honored by the NGCA with the Kim Moore Spirit Award, which is presented annually to a golfer or coach who exemplifies a great spirit toward the game of golf, a positive attitude on and off the golf course, a role model for her team and mental toughness in facing challenges. Tulane's seniors were the first class to receive the award.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
