Tulane Hosts Green Wave Women's Golf Classic

March 4, 2001

The Tulane women's golf team will host the annual Green Wave Women's Golf Classic beginning Monday, March 5 at the Lakewood Country Club.

The tournament will be played on March 5-6 with 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. A shotgun start is scheduled at 8:00 a.m. on both days.

The Tulane women are the defending champions of the Green Wave Women's Golf Classic. Last year, all five of the Tulane finishers were in the top-20.

Four of the teams competing, including Tennessee, are in the top-30 and seven teams are in the top-50 after the fall Golfstat ratings.

"This will be exciting as it is our first ever defense of a tournament title," Head coach Sue Bower said. "We have historically played well in this event as the familiarity of Lakewood and the comfort of staying at home has worked in our favor."
