New Orleans - The Tulane women's golf team completed their 2011 fall schedule today with a 15th place finish at the 10th annual Landfall Tradition with a 27-over 315 total during the final round and senior Ashley McKenney carded a 2-over 74 to finish in 24th place at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
Tulane improved its score by two strokes from Friday's opening round, but Green Wave was never able to get on track. McKenney saved her best round for the final day as she equaled four bogeys with four birdies but a double bogey on her opening hole, the 13th, proved to be the difference today. She logged a 24th place effort to lead Tulane for the second straight tournament.
Junior Maribel Lopez Porras was not able to find her groove this weekend and registered an 11-over 83 for 77th place while freshman Ines Lescudier went to the clubhouse today with a 10-over 82 and an 82nd place finish.
Forty-ninth ranked Purdue shocked the field with a 14-stroke victory. Third-ranked Auburn was second, Ohio State was third and South Carolina was fourth. Iowa State and Michigan State each tied for fifth place.
The Boilermakers' Paula Reto, the first round leader, claimed individual medalist honors with a three stroke win over Duke's Alejandra Cangrejo.
Tulane will take the next three months off and return to action during the spring at the UCF Challenge, Feb. 12-14, at the Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.
