NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane golf team shot a 7-over 295 total and dropped from sixth to eighth-place following the second round of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at The University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas.

Tuesday's final round will feature a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. and the Green Wave will be paired with golfers from SMU and Denver.

Despite dropping two spots, Tulane is just six strokes out of the top five squads heading into Tuesday's finale.

"Everyone played about the same today but we had a few rough stretches in the round," Tulane head coach Lorne Don said. "There are a lot of birdies out there and we just need to capitalize on our opportunities. It will be important for us to get off to a good start tomorrow and close with a strong finish and hopefully we can make a move up the leaderboard."

Sophomore Madison Opfer registered an even round today to lead the Wave and she is now sitting in 26th place at 1-over, while classmate Silvia Garces carded a 2-over 72 and is 30th place at 2-over. Freshman Belen Goicoechea finished at 3-over and is tied for 35th with sophomore Emily Penttila, who concluded the round with a 4-over 76.

Junior Gemma Dyrburgh went to the clubhouse with a 2-over 74 and is in 43rd place at 5-over.

Second-ranked UCLA flexed its muscle today with a 6-under 282 and holds a 3-stroke lead over second place Arizona State. Sunday's opening round leader Miami (Fla.) slipped to third place and Iowa State and Mississippi State round of the top five teams, respectively.

Individually, UCLA's Alison Lee and Mississippi State's Jessica Peng are tied for the lead at 7-under, while Iowa State's Cajsa Persson is one stroke back in third place.

The Longhorn Network (LHN) will air a two-hour Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational broadcast on Tuesday, Nov. 5 (Part 1 [day one and two highlights] - 7 p.m. Central; Part 2 [final round highlights] - 8 p.m.). Click here to see if Longhorn Network is available in your area.
