Third Round Results Get Acrobat Reader

NEW ORLEANS - Freshman Madison Opfer carded a 1-over 73 to lead Tulane and the Green Wave combined for a 15-over 303 total today to finish in a 14th place tie during the final round of the 2012 Liz Murphey Fall Preview at the University of Georgia Golf Club in Athens, Ga.

Opfer's 1-over 73 today matched her second round score and she led the Wave with a 26th place finish with a 6-over 222 total, which marked the lowest 54-hole total of her young career. She finished the back nine at 1-over and played the front nine even on the day.

Freshman Emily Penttila and sophomore Gemma Dryburgh each fired a 5-over 77 score during the final round and Penttila finished 36th overall with an 11-over 227 total, while Dryburgh was 53rd with 12-over 228 effort.

Senior Maribel Lopez Porras registered a 6-over 78 today and finished in 57th place with a 13-over 229 total and freshman Silvia Garces chalked up her best round of the tournament with a 4-over 76 and finished in 67th place with a 15-over 231 total.

North Carolina took home the team trophy after the Tar Heels combined for a 2-over 290 team effort today and overtook both Auburn, who led for the first two rounds, and Alabama, the defending tournament and national champions, with a four stroke victory.

Texas A&M's Mary Michael Maggio fired a 5-under 67 to jump from 15th to first place during the final round and earn individual medalist honors with a 3-under 213 total. Maggio edged North Carolina's second place Casey Grice by one stroke.

The Green Wave returns to action in three weeks and closes out the fall slate at the Alamo Invitational, which is hosted by future Conference USA member UTSA, Oct. 28-30, at the Briggs Ranch Country Club in San Antonio, Texas.
