NEW ORLEANS - Tulane junior Linn Gustafsson carded an even-par 72 and entered the clubhouse sitting in 36th place and the Green Wave combined for an 8-over par 296 total and is in 16th place after day one of the 2009 Mason Rudolph Championships at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.

Playing amid wet conditions and soft greens, the field attacked the pins throughout the day. The star-studded field made quick work of the course with 11 of the 17 teams finishing under par for the day. The Green Wave returned to action today hoping to complete the first round in one day after inclement weather at its first tournament, the Mo Morial, forced most of the field to play the first two rounds over the course of two days and the remainder of the event was cancelled.

Tulane entered the Mason Rudolph with just one round under its belt and got off to a rough start, but rebounded late for its 8-over par score. Gustafsson overcame a bogey on the first hole and a double bogey on the back nine with three birdies, including two on the front nine to finish the first round 1-under par.

Troyanovich was also 1-under on the front nine with a pair of birdies while suffering just one bogey. However, a pair of double-bogeys at holes 15 and 18 tripped her up and pushed her to 2-over par and she sits in a tie for 57th place.

Junior Janine Fellows is tied with Troyanovich for 57th with her 2-over par effort. Fellow played the front nine even and was 1-under following a birdie at the 10th hole, but a string of three bogeys on the back nine, combined with an even score on the remaining five holes, proved to be the difference today.

Sophomore Ashley McKenney was 4-over par today and is tied for 76th place. McKenney overcame a pair of bogeys on the front nine with three birdies at Nos. 1, 4, 9, which gave her a 1-under par score through the first nine. However, the back nine was once again tough on the Green Wave today. McKenney began the final stretch with a double bogey. She then bogeyed hole 14 and suffered another setback with a second double bogey at No. 16 to finish 5-over par on the back nine.

Sophomore Stephanie Wagstaff never seemed to find her groove and finished with an 11-over par 83 and is 88th overall.

Players from Auburn and Southern California each combined for scores of 10-under par 278 to share a two-stroke advantage over Alabama and Arizona State. Duke and UCLA are fifth and sixth, respectively, ahead of three teams -- Georgia, Oklahoma State and homestanding Vanderbilt. The Tigers and Trojans set a new first-round team total record with their 278's on Friday.

Auburn's Candace Schepperle and USC's Jennifer Song, the 2009 U.S. Amateur and U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links champion, are tied for the women's individual lead at 6-under par.

The 2009 Mason Rudolph Championships continue Saturday morning at 8 a.m. CT with 18 holes before concluding with a final round on Sunday.
