NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane golf team combined for a 23-over 311 total and slipped from 12th to 13th place following the second round of the Mason Rudolph Championships at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.

The Green Wave will join golfers from Chattanooga and Memphis for Sunday's final round and the groups will begin teeing off from the 10th hole at 8:48 a.m.

Freshman Emily Penttila improved by three strokes from her first round 79 on Friday. Today, Penttila recorded the lowest round for the Green Wave with a 4-over 76, while classmate Madison Opfer fired a 5-over 77 and leads TU in 35th place at 9-over through 36 holes.

Sophomore Gemma Dryburgh and freshman Silvia Garces each carded a 7-over 79 during the second round and both golfers are 12-over after two rounds and tied for 47th place.

Senior Meghan Chapman went to the clubhouse with an 8-over 80 and is in 70th place.

"We have things we have to work on if we're going to compete against the nation's top teams," Tulane head coach Andrew Pratt said. "This is a strong field, maybe the third strongest we'll see the entire year, but we're just making too many mistakes and some are pretty basic. We have one more day and I told them every shot counts, so hopefully we will come out tomorrow and be focused and play a solid round. We need to keep our mistakes to a minimum and give ourselves a chance."

Arizona overtook Texas for the top spot during the second round and holds a five-stroke lead over the second place Longhorns heading into Sunday's final round. Texas A&M and Virginia are tied for third place, while Michigan State rounds out the top five squads.

Arizona's Kendall Price vaulted from eighth place to first today with a 2-under 70 effort and is one stroke ahead of second place golfers Emilie Burger from Georgia and Natalie Reeves from Texas A&M.
