Tulane's 30th-ranked golf team moved up three spots into second place today with a combined 5-over 283 total and the freshmen duo of Silvia Garces and Emily Penttila are each tied for seventh place after 36 holes at the Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.

The field will begin the final round with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. CST and Tulane will join golfers from North Carolina and UCF. The top three squads will tee off from the first three holes on the front nine.

Garces and senior Maribel Lopez Porras each paced the Green Wave today as both golfers finished at even par during the second round. Garces and Penttila, who fired a 1-over 73, are just four strokes off the leader heading into the final round. Porras is just 1-over for the tournament and sits in 18th place.

Freshman Madison Opfer and sophomore Gemma Dryburgh each shot a 4-over 76 today. Opfer is 5-over through two rounds and is in 37th place, while Dryburgh went to the clubhouse in 81st place.

"We shot 5-over as a team today, but it was a tough round with the wind," Tulane head coach Andrew Pratt said. "I thought we played well, but we did give a few shots away coming into the clubhouse. We talked about it as a team and will look to finish much better tomorrow. Everyone played well today and really battled. We're in a good position. Our goal was to be in the top group on the final day so we've given ourselves a chance. We need to concentrate on our game and let everything else fall into place tomorrow."

North Carolina torched the field today with a 10-under 278 total to take over the top spot and was the only squad to finish under par. The Tar Heels enter the final round with a six-stroke lead over second place teams Tulane and UCF. Another Conference USA squad, East Carolina, is tied with Augusta State for fourth place.

In the individual race, Augusta State's Natalie Wille continued her reign at the top, but shares the lead today with Virginia's Briana Mao and the pair has a one stroke lead ahead of North Carolina's Casey Grice.
