Former Tulane standout Linn Gustafsson rejoins the Green Wave women's golf program this season as a graduate assistant in 2011-12. Gustafsson, the 2009 C-USA and Louisiana Golfer and Newcomer of the Year, was a three-year letterwinner for Tulane from 2008-11. She twice earned All-America Scholar Team honors from the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA), becoming just the third player to receive the accolade. Gustafsson completed her career as a three-time selection to the All C-USA team. She was a first team performer in 2009 and 2010. During her final season, she played in seven tournaments and sported a 74.81 average and earned All C-USA third team merits. Twenty-one of her 24 rounds counted toward the team score and she had three rounds of par or better, including a season-low 2-under 70 during the second round of the Alamo Invitational, where she also notched her best finish of the season with a ninth-place effort. Off the course, Gustafsson was named to both the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Tulane 3.0 Club during her final three seasons and was tabbed to the All C-USA Academic Golf team during her junior and senior campaigns. For her career, which began at Texas State where she played as a freshman before transferring to Tulane, Gustafsson played 119 rounds in 41 tournaments and posted a 75.49 (8,984 strokes) scoring average. She completed her career with three individual titles-- 2007 Chip-N-Club Invitational, 2008 Southland Conference Championship and 2009 Rebel Intercollegiate. She recorded 18 top-20 finishes, including 15 top-10 showings and six top-5 finishes, and she shot par or better 19 times during her collegiate career. Her lowest round of her career came in 2009 at the LSU Golf Classic with a 5-under 67, which is also tied for the lowest single round in school history. Gustafsson's best 54-hole total was 212 at the 2007 Chip-N-Club Inv. She owns nine of the top single rounds in school history and holds eight of the top-54 hole performances in TU history. A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Gustafsson earned her bachelor's degree in political science from Tulane in 2011. |
