BESSEMER, Ala. - Taking to the lanes for the second to last tournament of the season, the Tulane bowling team visits the Holiday Bowl Fun Center for the Holiday Collegiate Classic this Friday, Saturday and Sunday hosted by Alabama A&M.
The Green Wave (14-43) will be one of nine schools at the ninth annual event. Tulane is coming off the Capital City Classic in Dover, Del., on Feb. 10-12 where they posted a 0-10 mark.
"I am excited to have the whole team back in action this weekend after a few rough weeks and months with illness and injury," Tulane head coach Hayley Beavis said. "Although the team has not practiced as much as I would have liked of late, I hope the time off has given them the opportunity to fully recover and to concentrate on their studies in order to be totally focused for this weekend."
Joining Tulane in the field are host Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Arkansas State, Southern, UAB, Central Missouri, Valparaiso and Vanderbilt.
"We are going to have an insight into a few more top teams this weekend that we have not seen in previous tournaments," Beavis added. "This will give the ladies an opportunity to watch a higher level of competition and to understand what needs to be achieved to step up to the next level with the teams bowling. As always the ladies will give it their best shot and I am looking forward to seeing how the ladies fair against some tough competition."
Competition begins Friday with five Baker format games, while Saturday will feature five traditional games. Sunday will be the championship bracket with the best of seven Baker format.
Tulane will close out the first season of competition March 16-18 at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt in Nashville.
