JONESBORO, Ark. - Tulane's bowling team returns to the lanes for the first time in two months this weekend when they participate in the Mid-Winter Invitational hosted by Arkansas State at the Jonesboro Bowling Center.

The Green Wave (14-25) last bowled on Nov. 15-17 at the Hornet Classic in Montgomery and came away with six wins, including placing a season-best sixth in the tournament bracket.

"We are looking to start the New Year off with a little more consistency on the lanes. A few bad habits crept in over the Christmas break that needed to be ironed out in practice this past week," Tulane head coach Hayley Veitch said. "This is another strong fielded tournament but it's nothing that we haven't seen before so as always we are up for the challenge and will see what the next three days bring."

The field in Arkansas includes the host Red Wolves, the No. 1 team in the National Tenpin Coaches Association media poll, as well as No. 3 Central Missouri, No. 4 Stephen F. Austin, No. 6 Nebraska, No. 7 Wisconsin-Whitewater, No. 8 Vanderbilt, No. 10 Sam Houston State and No. 17 Valparaiso. Bethune-Cookman, Elmhurst, McKendree and UAB complete the 13-team field.

Tulane is led by Kelsie Kelly's 185.4 pin fall average, while Caryn Wong is rolling a 174.6 average and Jessica Stricklin is right behind with a 173.7 mark.

Following this weekend's action, the Green Wave will participate in the Wildcat Invitational on Feb. 7-9 in Ormond Beach, Fla.
