HUNTSVILLE, Texas - Tulane's bowling team posted a 4-9 overall record and finished 14th of 16 schools at the Track Kat Invitational hosted by Sam Houston State at the Huntsville Lanes this past weekend.
The Green Wave (13-30) earned wins over Texas Southern, Stephen F. Austin, Grambling and Prairie View over the three-day tournament. Tulane placed ahead of Prairie View and Grambling in Sunday's bracket play to finish in 14th place.
The event began on Friday with five Baker matches. Tulane posted a, 596-566, victory over Grambling in the fifth and final match of the afternoon.
Saturday featured five team matches and the Green Wave earned an 865-843 win over SFA in the third match and a 816-802 win over Texas Southern in the final match of the day.
Individually, Kelly Doucette led Tulane on Saturday with a 180.8 average, including rolling a career-best 227 in the final match against Texas Southern. Jessica Stricklin averaged a 176.2, including a career-high 211 in the opening match of the day.
Tulane went 1-2 in the bracket play on Sunday, the final day of the event. The Green Wave's victory came over Prairie View, 4-2, in the second Baker format match.
This was the final tournament of the calendar year for Tulane. The Green Wave will return to the lanes on Feb. 8 at the Southern Invitational in Arlington, Texas.
