BESSEMER, Ala. - Tulane's bowling team closed out a tough weekend at the Holiday Collegiate Classic with as match play victory over Alabama State in the final day at Holiday Bowl Fun Center hosted by Alabama A&M.
The Green Wave (15-51) earned a 4-1 victory over Alabama State in the match play tournament on Sunday after going 0-4 in Friday's Baker Format and 0-4 in Saturday's team play.
"An up and down three days ended on a positive note with a match play win against Alabama State," Tulane head coach Hayley Beavis said. "The ladies are performing well in baker and were certainly competitive on Friday. Saturday's team games performance was where we lost a huge number of pins."
Individually, Tulane was led by Caryn Wong who rolled an 881in Saturday's team format. She rolled a team-best 202 during the opening match against host Alabama A&M. Jessica Cwik bowled a combined 849 with a high of 197 in the fifth match.
"Caryn (Wong) performed well all weekend and was the MVP on the team," Beavis added. "Overall it was exciting to see the whole team bond well in the baker matches and with some dedicated practice over the next two weeks we will hopefully end the season with our best performance yet."
Tulane will take a few weeks off on competition before closing out the season in Nashville, Tenn., at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt on March 16-18.
