DeLAND, Fla. - The Tulane bowling team posted five wins and placed ninth in the 12-team Wildcat Invitational this past weekend hosted by Bethune-Cookman at the Sunshine Bowling Center.
The Green Wave (22-41) opened the weekend with three wins in Friday's Baker games. Tulane defeated host Bethune-Cookman, 683-659, Southern, 692-641, and Monmouth, 693-678.
Saturday's team matches didn't fare as well for the Green Wave with only one win. Tulane defeated UAB, 900-847, in the third game of the day. Angela Falgoust led the way with an average pinfall of 181.4 that placed 19th among all the bowlers in the field. Jessica Stricklin placed 24th with a 179.8 average.
Tulane then fell to UAB and Monmouth by the score of 4-3 in the best-of-seven Baker format in the bracket on Sunday, but defeated Southern, 4-1.
"This weekend showed signs of improvement especially in team dynamics on the lanes and consistency of performance," Tulane head coach Hayley Veitch. "We still need to work more on the mental game to perform well in pressure situations. Every tournament we are learning and the more experience we get the more confidence we will gain."
Tulane will travel to the Track Kat Clash in Huntsville, Texas, this coming weekend.
