Dec. 22, 1999
NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Tulane' Grace Daley has been named the Conference USA Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second straight week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Daley, a native of Ocala, Fla., earned her second consecutive league Player of the Week honor after recording 35 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals against SMU last week. She becomes just the second player in Conference USA history to earn Player of the Week accolades in successive weeks.
Wednesday's honor marked the fifth time that Daley, the Conference USA Preseason Player of the Year, has been named C-USA Player of the Week. In addition to last week's award, she was selected as the league's top player on Dec. 14, 1998, Feb. 9, 1998 and Feb. 17, 1997, making her the only player in Conference USA history to earn the recognition in four consecutive seasons. Daley is currently leading the nation and Conference USA in scoring in addition to ranking among the Top 15 in 10 of the league's 12 statistical categories.
Tulane takes a short break for the Christmas holidays, before returning to action on Monday in the Tulane/DoubleTree Classic. The Green Wave face Providence at 6 p.m. on Monday, while West Virginia meets Lehigh in the day's other first round game.
